2009 THEME: LOWER EXTREMITY
Every year the theme and topics of camp will change



This 3 1/2 day camp includes instruction on various topics as well as time for labs to practice what was learned in instruction. 

Topics this year include:

  • Medical language introduction 
  • Foot/ankle/lower leg anatomy and common injuries
  • Hip and knee anatomy and common injuries
  • Weight training instruction and techniques
  • Lumbar spine anatomy and common injuries
  • General medical conditions
  • Rehabilitation techniques
  • Modalities instruction
  • Hydroworx aqautic lab
  • Taping instruction
  • **MOSI exhibit and IMAX production

Days include instruction as well as labs.  Nights include fun games and time to socialize with new friends!  On the last day of camp, there is a camp-wide competition called athletic training olympics.  Campers will break into teams and compete with each other utilizing unique athletic training skills they learned from camp! 

**Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI)
This year campers will have the opportunity to visit MOSI's The Amazing You exhibit, and get to be a part of simulated real-life surgeries! Students will get to take a look into the human body and hear from a variety of medical professionals in the operating room. The exhibit will be followed by a dissection lab where campers will get the chance to use their knowledge in a hands-on environment. They will get information on the importance and know-hows of becoming a medical professional!
